The port is primarily a captive industrial port developed by Reliance Industries Limited to serve the Jamnagar Manufacturing Division, which is the world's largest single-location oil refinery complex. The marine terminal infrastructure includes five SPMs for crude oil import, with two SPMs dedicated to VLCC operations capable of handling vessels up to 350,000 DWT at a draft of 23 metres and LOA of 345 metres. Four product tanker berths handle vessels up to 150,000 DWT at 18.5 metres draft. An LPG and gas vessel berth accommodates vessels up to 112,500 DWT at 13.5 metres draft.
